The primary purpose of this web site is to reveal the innermost secrets of the Universe: what it is, how it is designed, our origin and destiny as a species, and how we could live in love, peace, and harmony with each other, our environment, and the Divine, free of fear, conflict, and suffering.
The greatest challenge we face in this exercise is that the intellect—the fragmented, deluded mind—has so comprehensively occluded these hidden mysteries over the years that we have no language with which to communicate. Because a thick cloud of unknowing has spread over the psyche, many have lost touch with the wisdom of the ancients, traditionally called prisca sapientia ‘pristine wisdom’ or philosophia perennis ‘perennial wisdom’.
As a consequence, we are still living in the Dark Ages, managing our business affairs blindfold, having very little understanding of the evolutionary energies that cause us to behave as we do. Current health and safety laws for the workplace do nothing to mitigate these dangerous practices, which inhibit the radiant light of Consciousness from shining brilliantly through us.
To recover the insights and natural self-reflective intelligence of our forebears, we need to study the etymology of words, often going back to their Proto-Indo-European roots, in what David Bohm aptly called the ‘archaeology of language’. For our ancestors were like innocent children in adult bodies, mapping ontogeny onto phylogeny, much closer to Nature than we are today. So can we use what science and the rational mind have taught us over the years to rediscover our mystical origins?
Well, we can begin by saying that through the ages the mystics and occultists—searching for the hidden mysteries, as the roots of these words indicate—have had some understanding of the Truth. For instance, J. Krishnamurti called Truth the pathless land where we can wander in total freedom, much as Jesus taught. However, the adepts, more focused on ‘no-mind’ than on the translucent mind, have generally not had the conceptual clarity that is necessary to integrate every aspect of what it means to be a human being, in contrast to the other animals and machines, like computers, and of our relationship to the Divine and the Universe, both viewed as Consciousness.
This web site seeks to rectify this problem through a holistic, nonlinear science of reason called Integral Relational Logic (IRL), which has evolved from the powerful abstract concepts of Plato’s and Aristotle’s philosophy, pure mathematics, computer science, and information systems modelling methods in business. IRL is the product of the convergent, synthesizing powers of evolution, in contrast to its divergent, analytical tendencies, which lead to religious demarcations, academic specialization, the division of labour in the workplace, and split, fragmented minds. IRL is a both-and, nonaxiomatic science of reason that truly describes how we think, learn, and organize our ideas, embracing either-or deductive logic and mathematical proof, which we have inherited from Aristotle and Euclid, as subsets.
The crystal clarity that arises from such a healing, awakening, and liberating process provides the gnostic foundation and metaphysical framework for the much sought-for theory of everything, called the Unified Relationships Theory (URT), an all-inclusive generalization of Albert Einstein’s Unified Field Theory, for fields are a special case of relationships and relationships make the world go round. The URT, which integrates all knowledge in all cultures and disciplines at all times into a coherent whole, thus completes both what the BBC aptly called ‘Einstein’s Unfinished Symphony’ and Isaac Newton’s lifelong endeavours to rediscover ancient wisdom by integrating his theological and alchemical studies with what was called natural philosophy in his time.
The central point here is that the word physics derives from the Greek phusis ‘birth, origin, nature, inborn quality’. In a similar fashion, nature derives from Latin natura ‘birth’, from natus, past participle of nasci ‘to be born’. So what is called supernatural today is entirely natural, for everything in the manifest universe is born from and originates in the Divine. Furthermore, to Plato, a philosopher—as a lover of wisdom—was a generalist “ready to taste every branch of learning … not grasping about money”. So the true natural philosophy, or physics as it was to become, is not a specialism. The true physicist does not study the surface structures of the Universe, but investigates their essential nature, in the depths.
Most specifically, IRL describes the semantic principles of natural philosophy much as Newton’s use of Cartesian coordinates enabled him to develop the calculus as the limited frame of nature for the Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy first published in 1687. For the concept of set in mathematics, which is the basis of semantics, is more fundamental than that of number. In economic terms, the meaning of information and hence its value cannot be satisfactorily represented in quantitative, financial models. So monetary, materialistic economic systems, like capitalism and communism, are hopelessly inadequate for the Information Age and Knowledge Society we live in today.
From another perspective, if computer scientists could produce a robot with artificial intelligence, then given the the economic imperative of our times, the global economy would eventually go into permanent recession because machines would then be able to do most of the jobs previously done by human beings more cheaply and effectively, including those of the highly paid accountants, economists, and bankers who run the system. If not, this would mean that technological development could not drive economic growth indefinitely and once again the global economy would go into permanent recession. In either case, it is clear that capitalism holds the seeds of its own destruction within it and that we urgently need to rebuild the global economy on life-giving, human-oriented principles, which is the practical purpose of this web site.
Now just as Principia unified the terrestrial and nonterrestrial forces known at Newton’s time, the URT unifies the physical and nonphysical, psychospiritual energies at work in the Universe, providing a comprehensive model of the psychodynamics of the whole of society, outlined in Wholeness: The Union of All Opposites. In scientific terms, by describing the laws of motion of society, the overall purpose of Wholeness, alternatively titled Semantic Principles of Natural Philosophy, is to complete the revolution in science currently taking place, just as Principia completed the Copernican, heliocentric revolution.
As the title of this book on Wholeness indicates, the keystone of IRL and the key that unlocks all the other secrets of the Universe is its fundamental design principle: Wholeness is the union of all opposites called the Principle of Unity, the ultimate yoga. For yoga is Sanskrit for ‘union’, cognate with join and yoke. In mathematical language W = A U ~A, where A denotes any being or set of entities whatsoever, including the Supreme Being.
This mind-shattering equation is a natural development of Newton’s F = ma and Einstein’s E = mc2, the cryptic equation in which Einstein sought to express the simple, elegant underlying structure of the Universe. For the Universe is essentially paradoxical and if we do not embrace self-contradictions in our conceptual models, they cannot possibly provide a true representation of the world we live in. We can thus put Aristotle’s Law of Contradiction where it belongs: in second place.
The Principle of Unity is a universal truth known to Lao Tzu, traditionally considered the author of the Taoist classic, Tao Te Ching, Shankaracharya, the founder of Advaita, and Heraclitus, the pre-Socratic mystical philosopher of change. The exquisite beauty of this all-inclusive, irrefutable truth is that any attempt to deny it is the opposite of its assertion, thus simply verifying its truth. Using Hegel’s logic based on the concept of Geist ‘spirit’, which Marx grossly distorted with his dialectical materialism, if Nonduality is the thesis and duality the antithesis, then Nonduality is the synthesis: the primary reality, Reality itself, beyond maya, the illusionary, relativistic world of form.
Yet the egoic, either-or mind is constantly refuting the truth of the Principle of Unity, inhibiting us from consciously, intelligently, and lovingly resolving the great psychological, ecological, and economic crisis humanity faces today. We can see this most clearly in the oft-repeated phrase “God bless America.” But why be exclusive? Why not bless everyone?
What the URT reveals beyond any shadow of a doubt is that the Universe is not the physical universe, as has been believed for thousands of years since at least the Babylonians and Egyptians. Rather the Universe—the Totality of Existence—is Consciousness, simply viewed as coherent, radiant light (symbolized at the top of the right-hand column) or a vast ocean, a multi-dimensional generalization of David Bohm’s notion of the holomovement, an undivided flowing movement with which he resolved the incompatibilities between relativity and quantum theories.
This worldview is much closer to the mystical East than the rational West, recognizing with Ramesh S. Balsekar, a former chairman of the Bank of India and an Advaita sage, that ineffable, nondual Consciousness is all there is, the transcendent Cosmic Context for every aspect of our lives, with Love being the immanent Divine Essence we all share. In Sanskrit, Consciousness is Satchidananda, a compound of sat ‘absolute, eternal, unchanging Being’, chit ‘absolute Consciousness’, and ananda ‘bliss, absolute joy’, whose realization leads to moksha ‘liberation’.
Recognizing that both God and the Universe are Consciousness, not unlike Spinoza, would thus end the long-running war between science and religion. Furthermore, in so doing, we could bring Life back to science, from which it was removed by Charles Darwin’s lifeless theory of evolution, first published in On the Origin of Species on 24th November 1859, 150 years ago this year. The DNA molecule does not hold the secret of life, as James Watson believes. Life (with a capital L) is the irresistible creative power behind all our works of art, scientific theories, and computer programs, arising directly from our Divine Source. The spontaneous power of Life is what distinguishes us from our machines, often expressed with enthusiasm, from the Greek entheos ‘having the Divine within’.
In social terms, being either optimistic or pessimistic—or positive or negative—about our children and grandchildren’s future is a violation of the Principle of Unity. As evolution is currently passing through the most momentous turning point in its fourteen billion-year history, current worldviews and institutions are unsustainable. So in the decade prior to 2020, we can expect more fundmental changes in society than all those that took place during the past 5,000 years, since the Fall in the mythical Garden of Eden.
As the visionaries have prophesied, the old has to die in an apocalyptic catastrophe so that the new can be born. We cannot get to where we are going by starting from where we are today. For apocalypse means ‘revelation’, literally ‘draw the veil away from’, indicating the disclosure of something hidden from the mass of humanity. By thus starting afresh at the very beginning, we shall all then be able to say with John of Patmos, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last,” peacefully living at the Omega point of evolution.
Such a radical transformation of culture and consciousness could come about through the Love and Intelligence being manifested by a new species currently emerging on Earth with characteristics quite different from Homo sapiens sapiens, so-called wise, wise human. For instance, without giving the new species a name, the last paragraph of Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth, being enthusiastically promoted by Oprah Winfrey, is “A new species is arising on the planet. It is arising now, and you are it!”
In a similar fashion, in the Zorba the Buddha discourses given in January 1979, Osho simply called the new species Homo novus, no longer split, not suffering from schizophrenia, detached from Reality, from the Greek skhizein ‘to split’ and phren ‘mind’. As Erich Fromm pointed out in a series of brilliant books published in the 1940s to 70s, we live in a grievously sick society. For the words health and whole, together with holy, have a common Germanic root: heil. So to be healthy, both as individuals and as a society, is to be whole, fully integrated in body, mind, and spirit.
In a letter published in the December-February 2005/2006 issue of the What is Enlightenment? magazine, now called EnlightenNext, Barbara Marx Hubbard, founder of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution and the Evolutionary Edge, went much further, suggesting these names for our emerging species: Homo universalis, Homo noeticus, Homo spiritus, and Homo sapiens sapiens sapiens.
Another possible name for our emerging species is Homo divinus, in recognition of the fact that it was not only Jesus of Nazareth who was both human and divine; all of us are divine human beings. Despite what we are taught in religion, science, and business today, none of us is separate from the Divine, Nature, or each other for a single instant of our lives. We are all one. Our collective destiny is dependent on us all working harmoniously together with a common vision.
The essence of the great transformation of consciousness taking place today, as the vision page shows, is the realization that we are conceived in Paradise, both as individuals and as a species, in mystical union with all there is. As our bodies and minds grow and develop, we then move out into the manifest world of form, developing concepts necessary to deal with the vicissitudes of daily life. But as the Principle of Unity determines that we are all destined to die, both as individuals and as a species, we can return to Paradise through various spiritual practices at the end of time in the Eternal Now, a notion made famous by Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now.
Recognizing that we are all one, we can thus become free of the decades, centuries, and millennia of personal, cultural, and collective conditioning that leads us to behave more like machines than the divine, cosmic beings we truly are. By Returning Home to Wholeness, as exemplars of the subspecies Homo divinus universalis, we can realize our fullest potential as superconscious, superintelligent beings, much as Aurobindo Ghose and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin prophesied.
As 99% of the Universe lies beneath the surface of our physical senses, to assist with the transformation from either-or to both-and thinking, we propose to set up a quite new type of institution, a healing, liberating catalyst for awakening. For as the world we live in is an expression of our fragmented, fearful minds, it is only through self-inquiry that we can transform our conflict-ridden, superficial society into a peaceful, cooperative one of the utmost profundity and breadth.
To this end, the Paragonian Foundation consists of four elements, the Paragonian Fellowship, University, Business Academy, and Publications addressing the spiritual, educational, economic, and communicational needs of the emerging Paragonian Society, the name we could give to the eschatological civilization that could emerge following the death of Western civilization, which dominates the world today through the global economy.
Paragonian derives from the Greek words para ‘beyond’ and agon ‘contest’ or ‘conflict’, which we see in the English words agony, until the 17th century meaning ‘mental stress’, and antagonist ‘a person that one struggles against’. So paragonian means ‘beyond conflict and suffering’, a healthy, liberated, and awakened way of being that we can realize when we live consciously in Love in union with the Divine in the overall context of Consciousness.
As the Foundation is based on the all-inclusive Unified Relationships Theory, one other purpose of this evolving web site is to gather together, in one place, an integral synthesis of the different ways in which people and institutions are experiencing this radical transformation of culture and consciousness. This means that sometimes it is necessary to make some changes to these various visions so that they all fit together as a coherent whole.
One further central feature of the Foundation is that it will adopt a radically different work ethic from that which prevails today. At present, human beings are regarded as both producers and consumers in the global economy, viewed as a machine. The assumption behind this dehumanizing, ecologically destructive philosophy, which has long fostered both trade and war and which has led to the debt crisis we face today, is that human beings are machines and nothing but machines and that technological development can drive economic growth indefinitely.
Yet as the URT shows with utmost clarity, we human beings are the leading edge of evolution, not computers seeking to display artificial intelligence. For the sake of our health, well-being, and even survival as a species, it is thus of the utmost importance that we give people the opportunity to explore the last great frontier in the Universe: the infinite depth and breadth of the Cosmic Psyche, inspired by the maxim inscribed on the temple of Apollo at Delphi: “Know thyself.” Spending billions of dollars on the Hubble telescope and on the LHC particle accelerator at CERN does nothing to reveal what is hidden from the vast majority in society today.
The remainder of this introductory page briefly describes the four constituents of the Paragonian Foundation, as we envisage them today. You are most welcome to explore the other pages, which are steadily expanding as evolution becomes ever more conscious of itself.
The overall purpose of the Paragonian Fellowship is
to help stimulate the spiritual renaissance taking place today, giving
it a common focus. The essence of this rebirth is that the monotheistic
religions regard God as other, attempting to deny that our immanent
divine Essence is Love. This is a revolution that is emerging primarily
through intuitive, feminine energies, arising from the grass roots.
However, this Awakening-of-Love movement lacks cohesion and a common
vision. So we are seeking to create a network of networks that can
generate the synergy we need to create a miracle. For synergy arises
through new relationships that are formed, apparently out of nothing.
The overall purpose of the Paragonian University is to complete the scientific revolution that has been taking place during the past few decades, just as Newton’s Principia completed the Copernican revolution. Using our self-reflective Intelligence, we shall be engaged in awakening to ourselves, rebuilding the last 5,000 years of human learning on the Truth within the overall context of Consciousness.
The central issue here is that because the divergent tendencies of evolution have predominated over the convergent ones over the years, religion, science, and economics have taught us that we are separate from the Divine, Nature, and each other. Western civilization is thus based on seven pillars of unwisdom: misconceptions of God, Universe, Life, humanity, money, justice, and reason. Recognizing that we are all one, if we are to heal our fragmented minds, it is of the utmost urgency that we rebuild the entire world of learning on the seven pillars of wisdom.
The university is so named because university, like universe, has a Latin root meaning ‘turned into one whole’. But universities today are deeply fragmented, very far from living up to their name, falling far short of the wisdom that the young are desperately crying out for.
With the emerging spiritual renaissance and scientific revolution as prerequisites, the principal goal of the Paragonian Business Academy is to cocreate an economic revolution, recognizing that our health and well-being as a species is dependent on us all working harmoniously together with a common vision, free of the divisiveness of pathogenic monetary systems. By recognizing that in Reality we are all one, with no borders either within us or between us, we shall be engaged in cocreating a life-enhancing, ecologically sustainable economy called the Sharing Economy.

Manifesto: Revealing the Coherent Light of Consciousness,
intended as a holistic, spiritual replacement for The Communist
Manifesto. Wholeness:
The Union of All Opposites is a scholarly work describing
both-and integral relational logic (IRL), the gnostic foundation
and metaphysical framework for the unified relationships theory (URT),
a coherent body of knowledge that describes all the forces in the
Universe—both
physical and psychospiritual—within a single, all-encompassing framework.
